Acne Facial Wash ...Continued

Non-Comedogenic

Acne face wash should be non-comedogenic, which means that it will not clog your pores. Thus, a facial cleanser that is non-comedogenic will help prevent blackheads (which are called open comedones), pimples, and whiteheads (which are also known as closed comedones).

Fragrance Free

Some chemicals or ingredients used to add fragrance in a facial product are sometimes irritating or may cause allergies. To prevent further skin problems, you should instead look for an acne face wash that is fragrance free. Actually, fragrance, particularly artificial, is not really advisable even in other skin products, especially the ones that are used on the face.

Following are the Important Acne-Fighting Ingredients.

Salicylic Acid

This chemical compound is commonly used as treatment of acne and other skin disorders, including warts, corns, psoriasis, calluses and many others. Salicylic Acid helps in acne treatment and prevention because it retards or slows the shedding or peeling of cells within the follicles, thereby precluding clogging of the pores.

It is quite normal to feel slight stinging when using face products with Salicylic Acid. However, if redness, dryness, and other discomforts are felt while using an anti-acne product with this ingredient, it is better to discontinue its use and consult your doctor.

Benzoyl Peroxide

Benzoyl Peroxide is considered as one of the best treatments for acne because it kills acne- producing bacteria on the skin surface. This ingredient is used in many acne face wash because it acts as an antiseptic. What's good about Benzoyl Peroxide is that it eliminated bacteria, but does not bring about bacterial resistance to other types of antibiotics, like other anti-bacterial ingredients used in many skin care products.

Aside from the bacteria-killing action, this ingredient also removes comodones found on the skin surface and helps minimize inflammation. If you use an acne face wash with Benzoyl Peroxide, you will notice that your pimples will start to get smaller and will eventually disappear.

It is important to note, however, that around 3% of the population is allergic to this chemical compound. If you feel burning, itching, and swelling, discontinue the use of the acne face wash with Benzoyl Peroxide and immediately consult your doctor.
