Benzoyl Peroxide For Back Acne
Benzoyl peroxide works by drying out the surface of the skin and therefore stimulating the shedding of dead skin cells. As this happens, newer skin layer is produced without clogged pores. Clog-free pores mean sebaceous oils can come out unblocked and thus bacteria have little chance of accumulating in the follicles to form acne.
However, benzoyl peroxide can irritate or burn the skin if not properly used. Consult dermatologists first before taking home a bottle of this solution. And since you can not reach your back acne, ask for someone's help to clean your back and to apply the necessary remedies.
Remember, home-based remedies do not work like magic. Several weeks are needed for the full effects of the treatments to take place. However, during those times, a visible improvement on your back can already be observed.
Medically-Assisted Remedy
In some extreme cases, back acne does not respond to home-based medication. If after a couple of months, your back acne refuses to subside, a consultation with dermatology experts must be arranged. Other types of remedies will be administered for severe cases of acne. There are topical or thematic remedies and there are oral treatments that can be prescribed.
Topical medication includes the use of topical retinoids which are applications derived from vitamin A. Another type of remedy prescribed for severe back acne is antibiotic lotion and azelaic acid; both promote the shedding of dead skin cells and the prevention of bacteria accumulation in the follicles.
Oral medication for acne on your back, on the other hand, includes oral antibiotics and oral retinoids. The purpose of these two types of medication is to limit bacteria and to induce drying and flaking of the skin; ultimately causing old skin layers to be cast off.
