Is There A Right Acne Rosacea Treatment?

The problem with acne rosacea is that there is no known definite cause. Without this important knowledge, finding a cure can be very frustrating. So the question remains, is there a right acne rosacea treatment? Although there are no proven and establish treatment for acne rosacea, there have been some medications that have been tried and have been found to be somewhat effective.

But first off, what is acne rosacea? It is defined as the blushing of the skin on the face caused by the inflammation of the blood vessels found there. During these blushing, there will be numerous small acne-like bumps that may develop on the affected areas, such as the forehead, cheeks and nose.

Some people tend to make the mistake of treating their acne rosacea the same as regular acne. They think that using the same over the counter medications can treat acne rosacea. Unfortunately, they may even irritate the skin and make the condition much worse.

What some dermatologists recommend is taking antibiotics. The exact dosage varies, but it is also recommended to start with a strong dosage and minimize it until a maintenance dosage is discovered.  Creams with antibiotic properties can also be recommended, but this is not the same as those used with regular acne. A dermatologist will need to determine which one will work best for you.

But aside from the creams and antibiotics, one acne rosacea treatment that can work and help tremendously is avoiding some of the known aspects which trigger acne rosacea. Some of these are smoking and drinking alcohol, consuming spicy food and prolonged exposure to the sun.
