Enter Zinc, Acne Out
Many medical scientists still continue to find concrete basis on the true source of acne and the one true cure which can prevent it from happening or at least to treat it if it occurs. With their studies and researches, they have found out that there is a link between zinc and acne. This may sound absurd but we all know that if our body doesn't have the sufficient amount of nutrients and elements it needs, it may lead to different disorders.
Studies have shown that if a person has a deficiency of zinc in his or her body, he or she is more likely to have acne. Also, zinc has been shown to combat acne because of their ability to fight infection, they can be used as acne supplements. Taking zinc for acne will arm your body with enough capabilities to ward off and destroy the bacteria which causes acne to occur.
For so many years already, zinc has been an active ingredient in many topical creams that are used for different skin problems. For example, zinc oxide has been used for treating diaper rash. When used for acne, studies have shown that in some persons zinc can be as potent as tetracycline.
Dermatologists recommend that people with acne should take an average of about fifty milligrams of zinc three times a day. You can be able to obtain zinc in either capsule or tablet form. If the capsule or tablet is more than fifty milligrams, you can be able to cut them up and take the recommended amount.
Remember though to consult with your dermatologist first. Some people may need a higher or lower amount to make zinc effective for them.
